About JOYAA

WHO JOYAA IS:

JOYAA is a living sanctuary for connection, creativity and belonging, where men and women gather to soften, remember, and flourish.

It explores love, embodiment and emotional resilience through circles, writing and shared practice. Through both online and in-person gatherings, JOYAA creates spaces where people can reconnect with themselves and others, through embodied presence, reflective writing, and honest human encounter.

JOYAA sits at the intersection of arts, wellbeing, and community practice. In a time of increasing disconnection and fragmentation, it offers spaces that cultivate presence, emotional literacy, and aliveness.

WHO THIS IS FOR:

JOYAA is for those who sense that something quieter, deeper, and more honest is needed.

It is for people who:

  • Long for connection without performance

  • Are drawn to embodiment without dogma

  • Value depth, slowness, and relational care

  • Wish to integrate love, loss, desire, and change into meaning

  • Sense that healing is not about fixing, but about listening

You do not need to be “healed”, spiritual, or articulate. You only need a willingness to arrive as you are.

JOYAA offers both mixed-gender and women-only spaces.

Some gatherings are inclusive and open to people of all genders. Others are intentionally held for women only, recognising the importance of gender-specific spaces for safety, nervous system regulation, and embodied healing. Each offering clearly names its container, boundaries, and participation agreements in advance.

WHAT JOYAA OFFERS:

JOYAA’s work unfolds through several interconnected pathways:

Circles — Facilitated, relational spaces held with care, consent, and nervous system awareness.

Writing & Storytelling — Reflective writing exploring love, heartbreak, intimacy, grief, and emotional resilience.

Embodied Movement & Practice — Movement-based and somatic practices (including Biodanza-inspired work) that support regulation and connection with the body.

Gatherings & Retreats — Occasional in-person experiences offering immersion, rhythm, and communal reflection.

Dialogue — The Conversation is a one-to-one space for reflection, clarity and honest enquiry. You’re welcome to enquire.

WHAT GUIDES THIS WORK:

JOYAA is rooted in the understanding that truth is not an abstract idea, but a a lived embodied process.

When life fractures us, coherence is how we survive — and honesty is how we return to ourselves.

This work is guided by:

  • Embodied presence rather than performance

  • Slowness over urgency

  • Relational care over hierarchy

  • Consent, safety, and nervous system awareness

  • Trust in lived experience rather than doctrine

JOYAA does not seek to fix or instruct.

It creates conditions where wholeness can be remembered and integrated.

LINEAGE & CONTEXT

JoyAA carries something of the legacy of the school of sopHia. An ancient name for feminine wisdom, rooted in love, intuition, and embodied knowing.

Sophia does not refer to abstract knowledge, but to the kind of understanding that lives in the body and emerges through lived experience, through feeling, story, and a quiet knowing.

Across history, this way of knowing has often been overshadowed by systems that privilege intellect, hierarchy and control. Yet many people sense that this deeper wisdom is urgently needed in our time.

In this sense, JOYAA participates in a quiet remembering. Here this wisdom is explored through the great thresholds of being human: love, eros, birth and death.

Each circle, each story, each retreat, becomes an act of restoration, bringing back Sophia’s wisdom into the world, through men and women willing to feel, listen and lead from the heart.

When you enter JOYAA, you step into a lineage, not as a follower, but as a carrier of something that has always lived within you.

Heart-wisdom to live your dreams, and love the world whole.

About THE FOUNDER

“We are all blossoming seeds in the garden of humanity.” Priya Mahtani

JOYAA is founded and stewarded by Priya Mahtani, a writer and facilitator, currently training in Biodanza.

Through JOYAA, Priya stewards spaces where people can explore the thresholds of love, eros, loss and transformation, with honesty, presence and care.

Her background includes over three decades of experience in creative education and communications, alongside a long engagement with the healing arts, movement practices, and reflective writing.

Her approach is relational, trauma-aware, and grounded in lived experience rather than theory. Through writing, circles, and facilitated spaces, Priya supports others to restore self-trust, honour the intelligence of the body, and return home to themselves.

Much of Priya’s work supports women navigating life’s thresholds: heartbreak, relationship transitions, identity shifts and midlife awakening, and rediscovering clarity, vitality and a deeper sense of aliveness.

Through circles, reflective dialogues and occasional one-to-one conversations, she holds peace where people can rediscover self-trust, clarity and a deeper sense of aliveness.

Coherence is how we survive.

Truth is how we love.

A Closing Note:

JOYAA is an ongoing practice —
a place to listen, move,
and stay present with what it means to be human.

It is not here to fix you.
It is here to remind you.

You are wise beyond measure.

You are an essential part of the fabric of creation.
You matter.

Your sensitivity is a gift.
Your body remembers what your mind has forgotten.

You are here to love
and to be loved
in equal measure.

Here, you belong.
